The 1.5-hour session begins with a captivating demonstration by one of Honeybourne Pottery’s skilled potters, showcasing the five fundamental steps of throwing: centering, opening, and pulling up the walls of the clay. This insightful introduction provides a solid foundation for your own creative exploration.

A LEARNING PROCESS ∙ Then, it’s your turn to step up to the potter’s wheel! With unlimited clay and expert guidance at your fingertips, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment and create your own unique pottery pieces. Don’t worry if your initial attempts are less than perfect – it’s all part of the learning process.

A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE FOR ALL ∙ The relaxed and inspiring atmosphere of the studio, combined with the therapeutic nature of working with clay, makes this a truly enjoyable experience for individuals, couples, and groups alike. A WORLD OF CLAY AND CREATIVITY ∙ Joining a small group of enthusiastic beginners, we stepped into a world of clay and creativity. The studio itself is a beautiful space, filled with natural light and the gentle hum of pottery wheels. Alan’s clear and concise demonstration at the start made the process easy to throw ourselves into, and soon we were all eagerly trying our hand at throwing.

THE CLAY HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN ∙ It wasn’t easy, of course. The clay seemed to have a mind of its own, and there were plenty of misshapen pots and pieces along the way. The satisfaction of shaping something from a lump of clay is rewarding, and with each attempt, we saw progress and felt that we were learning with every throw.

On the last Sunday of November, we pulled up to The Greenway Hotel & Spa and we couldn’t wait to get inside.
